Tony Stewart is one busy man-spinning race legend. The three-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion continues to significantly impact the track, not by rev… I mean, not by letting himself loose on the throttle (gotcha there, didn’t I?), but by opening his heart wider than the track itself.
The Tony Stewart Smoke Show roared (metaphorically) to life on October 11 at the Texas Motor Speedway. No, this wasn’t some desert mirage – It’s just huge piles of cash being raised for the Speedway Children’s Charities-Texas Chapter. The Smoke Show, ever since its smoky debut back in 2008, has raised a staggering $1.6 million in funds. These aren’t some Monopoly money, folks; it’s seriously impactful dough!
“The dollars raised for kids in need and the memories made with our participants make this an unforgettable annual event!”, says an elated Marissa Chaney, Executive Director of Speedway Children’s Charities-Texas Chapter. After all, it’s not every day you get to experience the thrill of Tony Stewart driving at near-race speeds!
Under the reins of veteran NASCAR driver and lovable Texan David Starr, the Team Texas High-Performance Driving School ensured the hot wheels were ready to roll. Bringing back nostalgia, the race cars wore NASCAR paint schemes from yesteryears, sparking a frenzy of “Remember that race?” discussions.
And the Speedway Children’s Charities aren’t pulling the brakes anytime soon. This Texas Chapter plans to fire up its engines with race weekend events during the April 12-14 NASCAR Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 400 tripleheader. This will also include the NASCAR Xfinity Series Andy’s Frozen Custard 300 and NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series SpeedyCash.com 250 (phew, that’s a mouthful!).
