Ford Unveils Mustang Dark Horse for 2024 NASCAR Cup Series


Ford Performance has revealed the all-new Mustang for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series, inspired by the enduring Mustang Dark Horse®. Signifying a thrilling close to a year filled with Mustang racing highlights, this 2024 series entry represents another victory for Mustang’s performance range.

Based on the Mustang’s seventh generation, the Dark Horse edition introduces a new echelon among Mustang’s racing lineup. From 2024, this allows eligibility for Mustang’s participation in racing competitions across six continents.

Ford Performance Motorsports’ global director, Mark Rushbrook, acknowledges the spirited response from fans worldwide to their recent Mustang revelations. With fan approval, the Mustang Dark Horse Cup car seems poised for a rousing welcome.

Mustang Dark Horse is not just a NASCAR offering but has also inspired a fleet of Mustangs featured in the Repco Supercars Championship in Australia and the Formula Drift series this year.

Mustang has long maintained a distinguished presence in NASCAR, with a successful run in the Xfinity Series beginning in 2011 and subsequently impressing with consistent championship results.

Mustang’s reputation continues to soar in the NASCAR Cup Series since 2019, with victories in key events such as the Daytona 500, Southern 500, and Brickyard 400. Joey Logano’s 2022 driver’s championship adds to Mustang’s winning tally.

The Mustang Dark Horse is all set for its NASCAR Cup Series debut on February 4, 2024, at the Clash at the Coliseum exhibition race at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
