From Car Salesman to Celebrated Honoree – Life, uh, Finds a Gear!

Rick Hendrick to be Celebrated at The Amelia 2024

The Amelia, a distinguished global Concours weekend situated amidst the luxury of Ritz Carlton Amelia Island, has announced its honoree for 2024 – Rick Hendrick. Known for its racing roots, The Amelia continues its tradition of honoring “the racers” as Hendrick becomes the latest recipient of this esteemed recognition.

Deemed as one of the most successful car dealers in the United States and the winningest team owner in NASCAR Cup Series history, Hendrick’s story is one of determination and dedication. “Rick Hendrick embodies the racer’s dream, working his way up from car salesman to owner of a dealer group to NASCAR Cup Series champion over his career,” stated Hagerty Vice Chairman, Concours Group Matt Orendac.

Over the years, Hendrick Motorsports has won 14 championships and has scored over 301 points-paying race victories at the elite NASCAR Cup Series level. They now field four Cup Series cars driven by top drivers Alex Bowman, William Byron, Chase Elliot, and Kyle Larson.

Showcasing a grand display of success, Hendrick Automotive Group is the country’s largest privately held dealership operator, employing over 10,000 personnel across 131 retail franchises and more.

Amidst the excitement, Hendrick commented, “For my entire life, I’ve loved automobiles and racing. The Amelia is truly a celebration of both of those passions.” Truly humbled, he also appreciated all who contributed to his remarkable journey.
