Cheesehead Hits the Southwest: Derek Kraus to Race for Spire Motorsports at Phoenix

Here’s some fresh news from NASCAR: Wisconsin native Derek Kraus is set to drive Spire Motorsports’ second entry for the upcoming Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix Raceway for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) finale. Kraus will be co-piloting with teammate Marco Andretti, each in a Chevy Silverado specially sponsored for the race.

“While commandeering for Spire Motorsports earlier this season, Kraus demonstrated formidable skills at the Clean Harbors 175, making a robust mark with an eighth-place finish,” said team manager Mike Greci, applauding Kraus’s knack for proficiency with his equipment.

Greci explained, “When the opportunity came about to put him in a second truck for Phoenix, it was kind of all-hands-on-deck to make it happen. He’ll compliment Marco Andretti and vice versa, so we’re optimistic about the chances for both our trucks.”

The Lucas Oil 150 event will air live on FS1 on November 3, 10 p.m. EDT. Racing enthusiasts can also catch the event on the Motor Racing Network or SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
