All Pumped Up: The 2023 Championship Tire Specialist Revealed!

Tireless Effort: It’s Dave Nichols For the Win

“Every tire tells a story, and each wheel carries history.” This may well be the mantra of Dave “Mule” Nichols, tire specialist of Penske Racing’s #12 Ford Mustang, driven by smooth operator Ryan Blaney. Champion Tire & Wheel finds Nichols’ dedication irresistible, naming him the proud recipient of the 2023 Nascar Cup Series “Consistently Smooth” award.

Nichols stands at the helm of this tire and wheel program, shouldering the colossal responsibility of managing a staggering 2,500 tires and wheels throughout an entire race season. Under the intense pressure of pit stops, the artistry of choosing the perfect blend of tires, wheels, and air pressure plays a pivotal role in the overall performance of the race car.

In an upcoming festive rendezvous, Nichols will receive his trophy – an elegant lead crystal symbol of his dedication, alongside Blaney, Crew Chief Jonathan Hassler, and team manager Mike Nelson (@PenskeRacing12) at the Penske Racing headquarters in Mooresville, NC.

But Nichols isn’t the only craftsman to be recognized. Champion Tire & Wheel will also honor Daine Anderson (@StewartHaasRcng), tire specialist for the #00 Stewart Haas team, led by driving ace Cole Custer, and tire connoisseur Justin Wicher (@ThorSportRacing) of the #99 Thorsport Racing team, steered by Ben Rhodes.
